"You want me to what?" I asked my husband. I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly. I didn't know if he asked did I want to 'turn on' the t.v. or 'be on the t.v.'
"Do you want to be on t.v.?" he asked me again, innocently as if he asked me to pass the mashed potatoes, which of course, I can't eat anymore because I'm on a diet since I'm going to be on t.v.
Ok. Back up.
I sat down beside him on the couch, while he continued to smile a scary cheshire cat looking smile.
We looked at each other and laughed.
"Don't you think that people will watch us?"
I looked at him increduously. He continued.
"I mean, if they watch stories about face lifts, birthing multiple babies and the trials & tribulations of little people, wouldn't they want to watch a series about a stand up comic and a writer - who began their illustrious careers AFTER the age of 50?"
I nodded.
"And the fact that the writer and the comedian (yeah, I put me first, it's my blog) only met and got married 5 years earlier makes it all the more.....interesting. Don't you think?"
I pondered that for a moment. What exactly was he telling me?
"So what exactly are you telling me?" I asked, a little panic stricken. "Do you mean there will be cameras and lighting and sound men following us around?"
He smiled again, only this time his eyes were opening wide in a 'Eureka! The light has come on' kind of glare.
"I think we should call it 'The Steve & Eileen Show' or 'Second Time Around', or something like that. Whatta ya think?"
I think I better lose about 40 pounds real quick.
