We're returning to NYC next week - me to shop with my daughter who lives there, and Stephen who has another gig. This time it is at the Broadway Comedy Club, and I am looking forward to seeing him perform there.
School has begun again in these parts, the yellow school bus slowing down traffic if you end up behind it as you travel through town. I guess I should be grateful I'm not driving on the LIE.
The apple trees are becoming heavy with fruit and ready to be picked. Many farmers did not escape the freakish storms this summer, some producing golf ball sized hail and damaging their crops. I laugh wryly to myself - since when did I become concerned about farming and produce? It's because they are my neighbors and friends, and many of them make their living this way. It gets under your skin and becomes a part of you.
All this rain and muggy weather has created a heavy soup of humidity, making it harder to move around without breaking out into sheets of perspiration. As much as I hate to see summer go, I am looking forward to autumn and the cool breezes.
