I have been exercising at the same athletic club for the last five years.
Sometimes I take yoga or pilates, other times I tear myself apart and enjoy Zumba. I've also done the machines, the bikes and other cardio exercises, learning about my body and understanding how to continually mold and shape muscles. Its a constant change in venue, in intensity and in styles.
The one thing that hasn't changed, however, is my gym bag. Its really a Vera Bradley pouch, and is the exact size I need to stow my street clothes, shoes, underwear, shower paraphenalia and bath towel.
I pack my pouch the night before, and always look to make sure everything I need is there before I zip it up. There's nothing worse than getting dressed after a shower and realizing your shoes are missing and you have to stick your feet back into your sweaty, smelly gym shoes.
Locking my purse and other valuables up in a locker, I situated my bag under a bench, knowing it was safe and out of the way of anyone walking through to the showers.
After completing another rip roaring round of Zumba this morning, I was surprised but not alarmed to find my bag zipped open. Sometimes we would share shampoo with another who had run out or didn't expect to need it. Borrowing is acceptable among friends at a gym, but only to a certain point.
But my shampoo was there, weighted to the bottom like usual. What WAS missing absolutely confounded me.
My bath towel and my bra.
Somebody took my bra? What, did you run out of the house and didn't understand what that flapping sound was? Did they blow up like balloons during Pilates and break the one you were wearing?
Who would steal someone's bra?
Creepy.
Has this ever happened to you?
